venous, capillary, arterial, etc.
) and urine specimens including proper drug screen collections (venipunctures on neonates are N/A; arterial punctures limited to patients over age 16) in the outpatient area and on the inpatient units, may be required to rotate to the off-site laboratory.
Performs bleeding times on patients over age 16 using standard protocol.
Performs patient functions in the Hospital Information System (HIS) (e.
g.
, registers, orders, updates, prints labels, etc.
).
Requirements Completion of post secondary program in Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant and experience as a laboratory phlebotomist preferred, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
National Phlebotomy Society certification, National Society Clinical Pathology preferred or other assisting certification(s).
