What's the Opportunity?
The Director, Human Resources - Supply Chain / Plant Operations position is responsible for providing primary client interface and expert Human Resources services in support of Scotts' business strategy.
This includes, but is not limited to, human resource planning, staffing, employee relations, organizational design and development, compensation and benefits support and integration, counseling for managers, and facilitation and resolution of issues.
This position also will integrate as a business partner within assigned client groups to influence strategic direction and decision making, help align HR practices, plans, and priorities to overall business needs and priorities and anticipate/recognize gaps in the organization.
Functional Responsibilities:
Provide leadership for Operations Human Resources staff and work with senior supply chain management. Includes supervising a staff of 5 and working with 30+ manufacturing facilities (all non-union).
Partner with management for strategic planning and to develop and execute human resource initiatives.
Provide quality HR services, including recruiting, counseling, policy interpretation and guidance on compensation issues, succession planning and associate development activities, and HR projects
Operate as a working member of the Human Resource leadership team and support the model for service and delivery to the business. This includes working hand in hand with the Specialist groups to execute the Human Resources strategy.
Partner with management on both strategic planning and value added transactional activities that are consistently applied and delivered across all business groups.
Lead a team of HR associates to work with business partners on the development and execution of the talent planning and review process.
Provide business leadership coaching and mentoring to the management team.
Requirements:
6+ years HR generalist experience with increasing levels of responsibility, including manufacturing/labor relations experience
Strong knowledge of labor laws
Worked with culturally diverse employees
Experience with implementing policy and procedure manuals, recruiting, union avoidance, implementing training programs, succession planning, and OSHA audits
Strong leadership, counseling, facilitation, problem solving, and decision making skills
Bachelor's degree in HR or business, master's and/or certification preferred.
International experiences a plus
Proven experience in leading change and implementing new ideas and concepts
Extensive experience handling a variety of employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner
Must have previous management/supervisory experience
Some travel required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
